Privacy.
Yamsap runs in your home. Your music, your library and your listening stay on your server, and we never see any of it. There is nothing to sign up for, so there is no account with us to hold data against.
- The apps
- The iPhone app and the browser library talk to your server and nothing else. There are no accounts to make and no analytics inside. The app keeps your server's address and your playback settings on the phone so it can reconnect; that information never leaves the phone.
- The server
- Your music, your listening history and everything the server works out about your records live in its database, on your machine. The first time it meets a record it looks up artwork, credits and biographies from public music databases; those lookups carry the name of the record, not anything about you.
- Things you can switch on
- Scrobbling sends what you play to your own Last.fm account, only if you connect one. Remote access gives your server an address on the internet so you can listen away from home; the address is private to you, and your music still streams from your own machine. Both are off until you turn them on.
- This website
- yamsap.com has no analytics and sets no cookies. If you join the waitlist, your email address goes to our newsletter provider so we can write to you, and unsubscribing removes it.
